Terms Of Use

Last updated: 08.09.2026

1. Parties and Scope

These Terms Of Use constitute the agreement between all users of the Koi application (the "Application") and Görkem AYKAÇ ("Koi"), the natural person who operates the Application. The Application is operated by that individual, not by a company. By continuing to use the Application, you are deemed to have accepted these terms.

Information regarding the processing of your personal data is provided in a separate document, the KVKK Disclosure Notice.

2. Age Requirement

The Application is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you may not use the Application. You must state your date of birth accurately at registration; an account cannot be created with a date of birth under 18 years. Koi reserves the right to close, without notice, any account found not to meet this requirement.

3. Account and Security

  • You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide at registration is accurate, current, and your own.
  • You are responsible for protecting the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity carried out through your account.
  • You must promptly notify support channels of any suspicious activity affecting account security.
  • As a rule, one person may hold one account. Opening a new account after your account has been closed is prohibited.
  • You may not open an account impersonating another person, institution or business.

4. Events and In-Person Meetings

This section is of particular importance given the nature of the Application and should be read carefully.

  • Koi is an intermediary platform, not an event organiser. Events in the Application are created by users, communities or businesses.
  • Koi does not guarantee or verify that events will take place, that they will be held as described, that they are safe, or that participants are who they claim to be.
  • No criminal record, identity, or security checks are performed on users.
  • Participation in events is entirely your own decision and at your own risk. When meeting people you do not know, you are advised to take reasonable safety precautions and to prefer open and crowded places.
  • Disputes, damages, and legal liability arising between users during or after an event belong to the users concerned.
  • The user who creates an event is responsible for the event's lawfulness, for obtaining the permits required by law on matters such as public meetings and demonstrations, business licences and the sale of alcoholic beverages, for complying with venue rules, and for the accuracy of the event information.
  • Your participation in an event may be confirmed by verifying, through your location, that you are close to the event venue. The result of this check can be seen by the event owner.

5. Community and Business Accounts

  • Accounts publishing events as a community are responsible for content shared by their members and for the events they organise.
  • Business accounts are responsible for the accuracy of their venue information, for their promotional content being truthful and not misleading, and for complying with Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the legislation on commercial advertising and unfair commercial practices.
  • Promotional notifications sent by business and community accounts through the Application are delivered only to users who have consented to receive commercial electronic messages. These accounts never receive the identity or contact details of the users reached; only aggregate numbers are shared.
  • Koi may restrict the memberships, events, notifications or account of community and business accounts that breach the rules.

6. Prohibited Content and Conduct

All content and conduct defined as a crime or misdemeanour under the Turkish Penal Code ("TCK") or other legislation is prohibited. Without limitation, the following are not permitted:

  • Threats (TCK Art. 106), insults (TCK Art. 125), disturbing a person's peace and stalking (TCK Arts. 123, 123/A), harassment and bullying

  • Using automated tools (bots, scrapers), disrupting the operation of the system, or attempting to circumvent security measures
  • Attempting to reverse engineer the Application or to access its source code

7. User Content

  • You retain the rights to the events, images, comments, and other content you share on the Application ("User Content").
  • By sharing User Content, you grant Koi a free, non-exclusive right, limited to the period the content remains on the Application, to host, reproduce, technically process, display within the Application and transmit the content solely for the purpose of operating, providing and securing the Application. Koi may allow only the service providers it works with to provide the service to exercise this right.
  • Your User Content is not used in Koi's advertising or promotional material outside the Application without your separate explicit permission.
  • This right ends prospectively when you delete the content or your account is closed.
  • You represent that you hold the necessary rights and permissions to the content you share and that it does not infringe the rights of third parties.
  • Before sharing content showing other people, you must obtain the consent of those individuals.

8. Moderation, Reports and Sanctions

  • Event, comment and profile content is checked automatically before publication against a list of prohibited expressions and with an AI-based content moderation service. Content found to breach the rules is not published and you are notified.
  • You may object to the outcome of an automated check or to a moderation decision and request that a person review the decision again.
  • Koi reserves the right to review, remove, or restrict access to content, and to suspend or close accounts, in order to ensure platform safety. In cases of serious violation, these measures may be applied without prior notice. You may submit an objection to a decision through the support channels.

You may report specific content you believe to be illegal through the in-app contact channel or the email address in section 21. The report should include the exact location or link of the content, why it is illegal, your name, your email address, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the information is accurate. Koi confirms receipt electronically, notifies you of the outcome without undue delay, and gives the main reasons when it restricts content or an account. No identity disclosure is required for reports relating to child sexual abuse offences.

If you believe that content violates your personality rights, you may request its removal under Article 9 of Law No. 5651 through the same channels. Such requests are answered within 24 hours at the latest.

9. Hosting Provider Status and Cooperation with Authorities

  • With regard to content shared by users, Koi is a hosting provider under Law No. 5651. A hosting provider is not obliged to monitor the content it hosts or to investigate whether there is any unlawful activity; however, when it is notified of unlawful content, it takes the necessary action in accordance with the law.
  • Upon decisions of courts, public prosecutors or competent administrative authorities and requests made in accordance with the law, content may be removed, access to it may be blocked, and the relevant information may be shared with those authorities.
  • Traffic information is retained for the period required by Law No. 5651 and related legislation.

10. Location Services

  • Location permission is optional and is used only while the Application is open. You may revoke it at any time in your device settings.
  • If you do not grant location permission, location-dependent features such as showing events near you and confirming participation at the event venue by location will be limited.

11. Paid Services and Subscriptions

  • Some features of the Application are offered through paid subscriptions or one-time purchases.
  • All purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Your payment details are collected by the relevant store; Koi does not process or store your credit card or payment instrument details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled. To stop renewal, you must cancel your subscription in the relevant store's account settings at least 24 hours before the end of the period. You may cancel your subscription at any time without paying any fee; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
  • Some subscription plans may start with a free trial offered by the store as an introductory offer. The trial length and the price that applies afterwards are shown on the purchase screen and on the store's confirmation screen. Under the store's rules, a trial can be used once per store account. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription continues automatically as a paid subscription at the price shown. Trial offers may be time-limited and may be ended; a trial that has already started is not affected.
  • Usage entitlements purchased once (for example extra events, extra notifications, highlighting) are credited to the account they were purchased for and cannot be transferred to another account.
  • Cancellation and refund requests are subject to the policies of Apple or Google; such requests must be directed to the relevant store.
  • Prices and subscription content may change. Any change takes effect at the end of the current subscription period.
  • Invoices, receipts, or other sales documents relating to your purchases are issued by the relevant store (Apple or Google) and are accessible through your store account. Koi does not issue separate documents.
  • If your account is closed due to a violation of the rules, no refund is given for the unused period.

12. Right of Withdrawal

Under Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and Article 15 of the Distance Contracts Regulation, there is no right of withdrawal for contracts concerning services performed instantly in an electronic environment and intangible goods delivered to you instantly. By confirming a purchase, you accept that you request immediate performance of the service and that you will lose your right of withdrawal.

13. Notifications and Commercial Electronic Messages

  • Transactional notifications related to your account (verification, security, participation and event reminders) are part of the service and cannot be disabled.
  • Commercial electronic messages containing campaigns and promotions from Koi and from business and community accounts in the Application are sent only with your explicit consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time, without giving a reason, in the app settings under Law No. 6563.

14. Third-Party Services

Some features, such as signing in with Google or Apple, creating playlists with Spotify, and the map, are provided through third-party services. When you use these services, the third-party provider's own terms also apply. Koi does not guarantee that third-party services will operate without interruption or error.

15. Closing Your Account

  • You may close your account from within the app at any time.
  • When your account is closed, your access ends immediately and your data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days at the latest, in accordance with the retention and destruction periods in the KVKK Disclosure Notice.
  • If you deleted your account by mistake, you may request its restoration through support channels before the 30-day period expires. After that period the operation cannot be reversed.
  • To end an active subscription, you must also cancel it through the relevant store.

16. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Application's software, design, brand, interface, and all other elements belong to Koi or the respective right holders. These terms grant you only a non-transferable and non-exclusive right of use for personal, non-commercial purposes; they do not constitute a transfer of any ownership rights. Business and community accounts may use the Application to promote their own activities within the framework of these terms.

17. Service Continuity and Limitation of Liability

  • Koi does not guarantee that the Application will operate without interruption or error. Interruptions may occur due to maintenance, updates, technical failures, or third-party services.
  • Koi reserves the right to change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Application.
  • Koi's liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the date on which the relevant damage arose.
  • These limitations do not apply to liability arising from Koi's intent or gross negligence, or to rights under consumer law that cannot be limited by contract.

18. App Store Rules

If you obtained the Application through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you are also subject to the relevant store's terms of use. These Terms Of Use are concluded between you and Koi; Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for support or claims relating to the Application.

19. Changes to the Terms

These Terms Of Use may be updated from time to time. In the event of a material change, you will be informed within the app and asked to accept the terms again. If you do not accept the new version, you may not continue to use the Application.

20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. In disputes, the competent courts and enforcement offices are determined according to general provisions. Users who qualify as consumers may apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committees and Consumer Courts at their place of residence, according to the applicable monetary limits.

21. Contact

You may submit your questions and requests through the in-app contact channels or at support@teamkoi.tech.
